Panchayats were assigned COVID-19 containment efforts

Faced with an even higher rise in COVID-19 cases, the government has played a major role in controlling local institutions.

The Panchayat Department has issued guidelines for the functioning of Gram Panchayat level and Ward level committees. The department has directed the gram panchayats to complete the process immediately and strict action should be taken against the founders violating the COVID-19 protocol who have not formed ward level committees.

The government had instructed local bodies to enlist the help of police to ensure compliance with the norms in schools, cinema theaters, malls, auditoriums and markets. Participation in weddings, funerals, public functions and other gatherings must be within the limits allowed by the government. Gram Panchayat and ward level committees must take necessary steps to alert the police and sectoral magistrates if any violation occurs.

Intensive containment efforts have been handed over to local bodies in collaboration with the police in the Contrement and Micro Content zones where spikes are seen in Covid-1 cases. In the event of an outbreak of COVID-19 in labor camps, therapeutic migrant workers must undergo RT-PCR testing.

Geo-mapping must be carried out with the help of health care workers in areas where epidemics are spreading rapidly. People who test positive for the disease in densely populated areas must be moved to COVID-19 first-line treatment centers or COVID-19 hospitals.
