Howard Finkle, a WWE Hall of Fame winner and legendary announcer, died today, Thursday, April 16, 2020. It is noteworthy that Howard Finkel is a first time employee at WWE and that Stephanie McMahon announced the news via Twitter.

"WWE is saddened to learn that Howard Finkel has died at the age of 69," a WWE press release said. "WWE extends its condolences to Finkel's family, friends and fans." Finkel was first hired in 1975 to work for Vince McMahon Sr. and the WWF. He will eventually become the longest-serving employee of the company.
Finkel suffered a stroke last year and his health was stagnant. He appeared backstage for a WWE event at Madison Square Garden later that year. Jerry Lawler discusses Finkel's health in an episode of his podcast. "I just haven't heard that Howard is in really, really bad health," Lawler said. "Not good at all. He may have had a stroke. I'm not sure but I know he's not doing well. "
The Howard Finkel Tribute
In the good and bad times, Howard was on the Finkle team Hogan, always telling me to keep my head up even when I was out of Howard, he would "never say" and "you and Vince would do the job", my good friend RIP, I would tell you. Love 4 lives

My friend, the biggest ring announcer in the Bees, was saddened to hear Howard Finkel died at the age of 69.

Howard was the best. It's easy. I'll never forget the last few times I saw him … the real concern he had for the industry, the real concern when he asked how my family was doing despite his ill health…
I thank them. https://t.co/sALmt2Ihb6

You wouldn't announce Howard until you were nobody. The championship win doesn't look real unless you've heard him say "new." His voice, his personality and his positivity will be greatly missed. Thanks for everything … especially your friendship. https://t.co/CYSPt6vnvU
