Fruit Basket Season 2 Episode 2 Spoilers: What to Expect?
Motoko Minagawa looks at Yuki from afar and, as always, admires him. She wonders how everything has changed and her closure with Tohru completely changed everything about her. In the meantime, Tohru takes a look at everything that has happened so far after moving in with Somas. He has been with them for about a year now and he wants to find a cure for his curse by learning more about it. Following this, Tohru, Shigure and Yuki talk about the summer break when Yuki decides to go to school because of his students' council responsibilities.
As he enters the auditorium, he finds it filled with pieces of paper and wonders what's going on. He then meets the new members of the council, Machi and Manabe, who will be somewhat relieved by his disappointment. On his departure, Manabe also comments on his feminine features and as soon as he realizes that he is being humiliated, he bravely follows Manabe's hand. Meanwhile, Motoko thinks about the time when he first met Yuki and fell in love with him.
Along with a friend of his, Rika Aida, he decides to enter the student council meeting, but to his surprise, he sees Yuki sitting there. They soon start talking and Yuki appreciates it too. Although she likes how he expresses what he feels for her, she wonders how much he has changed over the past year. She also tells him that he has changed a lot and the two of them share a conversation. In the final moments of the episode, Yuki and Tohru go to wash dishes at the Somas residence and talk all about their day.
Now that the role of Kakuru and Machi has already been established in the first episode, we will see a lot more of them in all future student conference activities. After his comment on Yuki's appearance, Kakeru already seems to be a problematic character, so it's certainly not easy for Yuki to deal with him.
Aside from the two new members, it seems like Season 2 had a very strange beginning with the main storyline playing a very secondary role in its storyline. With so much emphasis placed on the character of Motoko in the first episode, it is likely that he will play a major role in the context of an important story this season. But now that his character has been released, we will find out more about the dynamics of our main quartet in the next episode.
